Milestone Session FAQS

When should I contact the Photographer to schedule the shoot?

I would suggest at least 4-6 weeks prior to your desired shoot date. I do tend to book up in advance. I do offer weekend dates on a limited basis, for an additional fee. I typically recommend booking for your babies 6-7 months Milestone (once they are able to sit well on their own) and for their 1 year session.

Can we take a family or sibling shot at the session?

Milestone sessions are priced for the Milestone child only. There is an option to “add-on” sibling(s) to your Milestone Session for an additional fee. If you are looking for Family Shots I would recommend booking a Family Session with me.

When is the best time to schedule the session?

It is best to schedule the session based on the best time around their nap. I would hate for you to waste the session with a tired, crabby, cranky baby. Remember, we work on baby’s schedule. They run the show! Parents know best which time of day they have a happy baby.

What do we need to know before we come to the studio?

Please have your child fed before the session, this is a 45 min session and breaking for feeding is not typical. Please DO NOT bring snacks of any kind to the session or the child will be focused on the snacks and all chances of getting a shot without “Goldfish” in their mouth has been lost.

What should I bring?

You may bring a choice of outfits for us to pick through – we typically will shoot 2-3 looks in one session. Changing the baby more than that can make them upset. I will also have my personal collection of wardrobe choices available for you to choose from.

Do I need to bring Props/Accessories?

I have plenty of accessories/props for both boys and girls that I hand pick specifically based on my style of Photography. I always keep things fresh and continually order new items for my work. As an artist/photographer I do have a specific style and taste that I like to stick with, if you booked with me than chances are you like it! If you have a family heirloom etc. I am MORE than happy to use it for your photos. My style is very neutral, natural, timeless and focuses on your baby rather than the “set-up”.

My child has a small scratch/bruise or their face, is that ok?

I know kids at this age are on the move! Lots of falling and tripping. If you child has a small mark on their face, do not worry as I am able to touch it up when editing.

What if my child is sick?

A healthy child is a happy child. Please let me know within 24hrs of your session if your child is sick, has a runny nose, or cough, so we can reschedule your session.  Since I work very closely with newborns or other children, I need to be extra diligent in protecting these precious little beings. It is to my discretion to reschedule the session if the child appears to be sick at the time of the session.  Thank you for keeping me and my family healthy too!
